blemish removal FAQS

Are you qualified and insured to carry out this treatment? 

Yes, I have a VCTC Level 4 qualification in advanced electrolysis and the relevant insurance.

Is your premises licensed and inspected?

Yes, it is licensed and inspected by the environmental health department at Neath Port Talbot Council.

How do you remove blemishes?

Blemishes are removed by using a fine needle carrying an electric current to cauterise blemishes. 

Does it hurt?

It feels like a stinging sensation, less p
ainful than a tattoo. When skin tags are removed, the discomfort often wears off after the first 10 seconds. Thread vein treatment feels like a series of little stings.  Cherry angioma removal feels like a more 'scraping' kind of sting. None of the treatments are painful, but they may feel mildly uncomfortable for a few moments.

Will I be red and sore afterwards?

It is normal for your skin to be a bit inflamed if you have had thread vein treatment. You may have some redness for up to 5 days, and have some little scabs for up to 2 weeks. After skin tag and cherry angioma removal you may see a little redness and a scabby, dry crust that will drop off over the next few days.  Correct aftercare will be explained to you, and it is essential that you follow the advice. 

Blemish removal will not clear any cause related to the blemish, nor will it reverse ageing or the damage caused by exposure to the sun. Dilated blood vessels may be replaced by normal vessels and will be subject to the same conditions of wear and tear, which may lead to a recurrence. A temporary increase or decrease in pigmentation at the site of treatment is normal and may take from 12 weeks to several months to fully resolve, depending on the individual’s unique skin healing and regeneration time. 

Can anyone have this treatment?

Under 18s cannot be treated, and people with certain medical conditions.  Anyone with a pacemaker unfortunately can't be treated.
